Did an amazing job as we'd had birds fly down our chimney, also checked and cleared the other ornamental one, which had a nest in too. The birds will now have to find another home. Brilliant job done

Signs of Pigeons on Your Property

Early detection of pigeon activity can prevent significant nuisances and potential risks. Look out for the following signs:

• Frequent Pigeon Sightings: Regular sightings of pigeons roosting on your property, especially in large numbers, can indicate a growing infestation. Pigeons often choose high places like rooftops, ledges, and window sills for perching, which provides them with a safe vantage point and access to food sources.
• Droppings: The accumulation of pigeon droppings on your property is not only unsightly but can also cause significant damage to buildings and structures. Pigeon droppings are acidic and can erode building materials, leading to costly repairs. Additionally, droppings can pose health risks as they may contain pathogens that can transmit diseases to humans.
• Nesting Materials: The presence of nests or nesting materials such as twigs, leaves, and feathers in sheltered areas of your property is a clear sign of pigeon activity. Pigeons build their nests in protected locations like attics, chimneys, and roof spaces to raise their young. These nests can block vents and gutters, causing further damage and maintenance issues.
• Noise: Constant cooing and flapping sounds, especially in attics, chimneys, or roof spaces, are typical indicators of pigeon presence. Pigeons are vocal birds, and their noises can become a persistent nuisance, disrupting the peace and quiet of your home or business environment.
• Damage: Visible damage to buildings, roofs, and other structures caused by pigeon activity can include broken tiles, clogged gutters, and deteriorated insulation. Pigeons can dislodge roof tiles to access nesting sites, and their nests can block drainage systems, leading to water damage and increased maintenance costs.

Preventative Measures

To help keep your property free from pigeons in the future, we recommend the following preventative measures:

• Seal Entry Points: Close gaps and cracks in walls, roofs, and around vents to prevent pigeons from entering your property. Ensure all potential entry points, including chimneys and utility openings, are properly sealed to block their access routes effectively.
• Maintain Cleanliness: Keep food sources securely stored and clean up spills immediately. Pigeons are attracted to easily accessible food, so maintaining cleanliness can help deter them.
• Proper Waste Management: Ensure rubbish bins are tightly closed and regularly emptied to prevent attracting pigeons. Use sturdy, lidded bins and store them away from the building to minimise the risk of attracting pigeons.
• Remove Potential Nesting Sites: Regularly inspect and maintain your property to eliminate potential nesting sites. Remove old nests and debris from gutters, eaves, and other sheltered areas to discourage pigeons from settling.
• Pigeon Deterrents: Consider installing pigeon deterrents such as netting, spikes, or wire systems on rooftops, chimneys, aerials, and other vulnerable areas. These measures help to prevent pigeons from roosting and nesting on your property.
